Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Cardiology
OFA Cardiac Exams are screenings to identify hereditary cardiac diseases through the presence of a heart murmur. The most common congenital defects are subaortic stenosis, pulmonic stenosis, valvular dysplasia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and patent ductus arteriosus. In some cases, full echocardiograms are required for breed clearance.
Breeds such as Dobermans and Boxers require yearly Holters as part of their OFA screening. OFA Exams do not require a referral from your primary care veterinarian and are recommended in preparation for breeding. We do not recommend OFA exams in female dogs or cats that are in heat, pregnant, or nursing, since transient murmurs can develop during this time.

Brain Auditory Evoked Response Testing
BAER Testing detects electrical activity in the cochlea and auditory pathways in the brain and is used by many breeders and pet owners as a hearing test for dogs and cats. BAER is an electrodiagnostic test that determines if brainstem and hearing function is present in a patient.
